Chagall" (Charlie) is a handsome dark brown Warmblood stallion bred
by Vollrath Stud and owned by Greg Jamieson of Chester Farm.
from the famous Holsteiner "C" line tracing back to the very
influential stallions Calypso II and Cor De La Bryere, and is out of
a quality New Zealand bred warmblood mare of Anamour / Dynamit bloodlines.
has a big powerful jump with very clean, consistent technique, high
rideability and an exceptional calm temperament that makes him an easy
stallion to have around and take out to competitions.

Performance History & Competition Success
has already gained himself quite a fan club at the shows and impresses
with his ever consistent form over the jumps. It is rare to see any
horse competing at the levels Chagall does ridden in a simple snaffle
and cavesson noseband with no martingale or other "gadgets"
- let alone a stallion!
early handling and outings with previous owner Philippa Barriball as
a young horse, Chagall was started under saddle by Greg as a 3 year
old and then given his early mileage under saddle by Philippa who enjoyed
riding her young stallion around her farm and local hill tracks, alongside
attending to private breeding duties at her farm.
was following some free-jumping training at Chester Farm as a 4 year
old that Chagall really caught Greg's eye and impressed with his calm
demeanor mixed with super canter and obvious jumping talent. The offer
was made to Philippa to compete the young stallion on her behalf and
this exciting competition partnership was formed.

was lightly competed as a 5 and 6 year old in both showhunter and showjumping
where he seldom took a rail and earned several placings including 8th=
National 5 Year Old Showjumping Champs 2009, 4th 1.20m Horse Of Year
2010 and also 8th (out of 60 starters) in the 6 Year Old HOY Title class
(1.30m) 2010 - great results from very limited outings.
a 7 year old, Chagall competed successfully in the National 7 Year Old
showjumping series classes and in January 2012 he started in his first
1* Grand Prix, which he won!
the 2012 / 13 season, Chagall competed regularly with Greg in 1.30 -
1.40m classes and 1* Grand Prix classes, earning several wins and placings
against many more seasoned campaigners at these heights.
Showhunter Open Horse Classic winners, February 2012
also continued to dominate in all showhunter classes entered throughout
the season due to his excellent canter rhythm and consistent form over
the jumps. His showhunter career highlights to date include: Waikato
Open Horse Championship winner 2012, 3rd Open Showhunter Horse Of The
Year title class 2012 and 6th in this same title class 2013.

2013 / 14 show season, Chagall was one of the most consistent horses
competing up to 1.50m in the 1* Grand Prix circuit, seldom out of the
placings from every class entered including 1st 1* GP at Woodhill Sands
and 5th 1* GP Manfield (indoors).
Chagall also put forward a tremendous effort in the Taupo Christmas
Classic 2013 Open Horse National Showjumping 1.30m Derby where he jumped
to a very satisfying 4th place from a very large field of entries.
2014 / 15 season, Chagall was competed by Tauranga based World Cup rider
Phillip Steiner on behalf of Greg. Phillip quickly formed a partnership
with the stallion, competing up to 3* Grand Prix 1.60m through the season
with results including 1st 1.40m Gisborne, 2nd National Open Horse Derby
Steiner will be competing Chagall again in the 2015 / 16 season.
& Breeding Success
only a very small number of private mares bred, Chagall has proven to
cross well to both Thoroughbred and Warmblood mares. Being an "older
fashioned" type of warmblood horse with his strong bone, frame
and constitution, he makes a particularly good cross to full Thoroughbred
mares and lighter framed warmbloods, adding good bone and substance,
a level-headed temperament, excellent natural rhythm and canter quality,
and exciting natural jumping ability to his offspring. Chagall also
has excellent feet which he passes on to all of his progeny.
His two oldest progeny were born in 2008 both competed in showjumping
at Horse Of Year show in March 2015 including the exciting mare "Cadenza"
(x TB mare) whose huge natural jumping ability saw her competing to
1.25m in her first season of competition and jumping impressively in
the 6YO HOY class.
His progeny's temperaments and natural ability make them suitable for
both amateur and professional riders, for competition and pleasure riding.
inhand and under saddle by Hanno Koehncke, German Holsteiner classifier
in 2013, Chagall was commented to be a very impressive jumper and of
sound temperament and was suggested as being a very good cross for breeding
with our New Zealand Thoroughbred mares.
